View Full Version : Check engine light! Help! It's getting cold out here
Kaymax 10-28-2004, 03:22 PM hope all is well! i have a RS6 manuel and i have the following problem:
Check Engine light
dealership states that it's O2 sensor related, but this is my sixth trip to them with no result. the Dealership tried "TO FIX THE PROBLEM" by replacing all the vac hoses but the c/e keeps appearing after you drive the car.
please advise if you can.
Kaymax 10-28-2004, 05:08 PM anyone ?
99a4audi 11-01-2004, 12:48 AM i didnt think the rs6 came in manual? i heard only automatic with paddle shift. sorry i have no advice to give u. im not rich i cant afford an rs6
Kaymax 11-01-2004, 01:12 PM yes, that is correct. five speed tiptronics, i was thinking about my 95 Supra.
99a4audi 11-01-2004, 02:20 PM bullsh*t, that isnt a mistake you would make. i dout u own a rs6 and a supra
Kaymax 11-01-2004, 02:52 PM let me know if you want the Vin Number or the dealer's telephone number who's working on the car... and go to the Supra forums and look for Kaymax
Kaymax 11-01-2004, 02:56 PM well? want the dealers telephone number to call? you can call Dusty or frank at MVP racing-because i just bought a MAP ECU from him. HMMMM.....
Kaymax 11-01-2004, 02:59 PM MAP ECU is for the 95 Supra single t66 ball bearing dynoed at Turbo Trix in NJ at 475 hp 425 t. Ask for JR at Turbo trix..and the only reason why i bought this piece of shit (RS-6) is because it's the FAMILY car.. ha ha ha
Kaymax 11-01-2004, 03:00 PM But thanks for your reply!
Kaymax 11-01-2004, 03:03 PM BTW- i got a tech response on Audi-Forums.com
Kaymax 11-01-2004, 03:10 PM why the fuck would i ask for help on my o2 sensor and list it in two forums?
sad.....
99a4audi 11-01-2004, 03:21 PM whoa guy calm down. i believe you.....
Kaymax 11-01-2004, 03:37 PM i went a little overboard on the last thread. i guess you guys(Audi forums) have the same problems we have(supraforums) ,people who do not have this rare machine sign on to give their two cents worth but don't realize it's a waste of time to the members who need help(cuz the dealers know very little about this model). but i assure you this is a ligit problem and i will look into the "lemon law"!
David_K 11-01-2004, 05:47 PM Either back down or go home. Don't Hate, Masturbate!
Both of you settle down!
Jestnomen 11-01-2004, 06:16 PM Only thing I can think of is MAF, O2 sensors, and vacuum hoses.
Kaymax 11-01-2004, 07:04 PM Jestnomen- tnx for the reply. i need to ask the dealer if they are hooking the car up to a VAG fault reader instead of a OBD reader. i'll follow up on Wed.
David- just having fun! i appreciate 99a4audi reply and thanked him for it. BTW- do you have an idea what may cause the "check engine"?
99a4audi 11-01-2004, 07:16 PM yo man i meant no dissrespect at all. u kinda jumped down my throat for no reason. but i have no idea what to tell ya about the check engine light. is the car still under warranty? if it is take it to the dealer and they SHOULD fix it for free
Kaymax 11-01-2004, 07:42 PM yeah, i'm just pissed the SOX won! heh heh, they deserved (sox) it, come back from 3-0. And you're from Mass, i sell shrimp, so a lot of my clients in Boston are being "poor sports". not that i can blame them, it's kinda like not getting laid for 86 years.
but i still need this stupid check engine light off. if not "lemon law"!
Jestnomen 11-01-2004, 10:04 PM Kaymax, a obd reader and a Vag are basically one in the same.
Kaymax 11-01-2004, 11:20 PM all dealers have the OBD reader and can detect errors but....
http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/dtc-comparison.html
Jestnomen 11-02-2004, 12:25 AM Oh I gotcha, an example of a generic obd reader would be something like they use at autozone. The dealer uses a very expensive reader, specific to audi/vw, that picks out ALL codes.
99a4audi 11-02-2004, 07:43 PM wait are you from mass also?!?! If so we should def meet up. haha ya its about time the red sox won!
99a4audi 11-03-2004, 03:25 PM Do you live in Mass?
Kaymax 11-03-2004, 04:14 PM no, MD and NJ. lost money on the game.
99a4audi 11-03-2004, 10:52 PM haha ohhh sorry bro. never count out the sox
Kaymax 11-04-2004, 02:49 PM problem solved...air canister....Sweet back on the road trying to keep up with Supra, heh heh.
David_K 11-05-2004, 01:10 AM trying to keep up with Supra
It has to try??? Seems kinda dissapointing to me
99a4audi 11-05-2004, 03:51 AM haha
99a4audi 11-06-2004, 12:49 AM have u seen the4 new car and driver with the audi rs6 with 550 or something horsepower. its sick to bad it came in last though. its cool i still love it
audiboy1618 11-15-2004, 09:47 PM Im not really impressed with the rs6, I used to be but when i found out times and stuff i was really dispointed. There slow for the money you pay.
99a4audi 11-16-2004, 01:47 AM ya tru, i heard if u put a little $$ into an s4 its the same as an rs6 performance wise. i have mixed feelings
TRAutoB 11-18-2004, 01:39 AM Yeah I have 7 RS6's one for every day of the week in different colors..........JK. I own a 2004 A4 1.8T Ultra Sport... it's nice :) Yea I would check to see if they have it on the right reader. Its funny you sell shrimp and own a 85k car. No disrespect to your job or anyhting. It's just funny..........Ill shut up now...........:(
99a4audi 11-18-2004, 02:42 AM hahaha
audis4v6biturbo 12-03-2004, 11:09 PM I'm sure this response is a little late for you man, but I was having the same problems with my 00' S4. The dealer replaced all of the vaccum seals and hoses, most everything u can think of. However, 15 miles down the road the C/E would come back on. Finally, I was at the point where I was actually losing some power, so I brought the car back pissed. The guy had it for a week, and it turns out it was the Air-Flow Meter on the car. I really am not sure what that deals with exactly, perhaps the turbo's, but the car runs like a dream now.
audis4v6biturbo 12-03-2004, 11:11 PM Oops, sorry fellas. Didn't see the second page. HA I apologize
Jestnomen 12-04-2004, 01:35 AM The Air flow meter (MAF) measures the amount of air coming into the engine, so it knows how much fuel to add to obtain the adequate air/fuel ratio.
audis4v6biturbo 12-07-2004, 05:17 PM appreciate it, thanks boss
Ben
Kaymax 01-20-2005, 02:07 PM $80,000 POS, well fellers the damn c/e came back on and back in the hands of the dealer. &^%$#$ it ,i'm selling this POS. if any of you see this car in autotrader don't buy it...Ebony black, 16,000 miles, HRE 19inches
Kaymax 01-20-2005, 02:10 PM What's so funny....and how did you know i sell shrimp(email)? and BTW check Supraforum under KAYMAX

clconversion 01-20-2005, 05:33 PM isn't it all still under warrenty ? why get rid of such a nice car just curious what would you replace it with ?
Kaymax 01-20-2005, 06:58 PM yup, still under the WARRANTY, went to the dealership six times . changing the crack canister solved the problem for a short peroid of time but the damn c/e light came back on........POS. sticking with the Supra and putting more money into that....least it's realiable.
