Default Superchip or any others ?

ive had my new company car since october 2005 , an a3 sportback se 1.9 TDI 2005 model, and ive been looking into chipping/ remapping, some questions really.

Whos the best but also can i unplugg it when it gets serviced ?

If i have a remap , can AUDI tell when it goes in for service ?

thanks

any advice would be appreciated, anybody already got theirs done ? and what should i be expecting, ive seen 25bhp to 40bhp listed on some sites?

hmm, god questions.
The chip will only adds segnificant amount if you have an 90HP engine, the 105Hp engine gives not a lot of power extra.
They cannot unless they are actually looking for it.
remember that diesel fuel already works from comprasion, so unless more air is given it will do nothing. The extra fuel would be for nothing.

diesel performance is similar to gasoline engines. But the main diference is that a diesel AF mix should be presise, while on Gasoline engine you have 12.5 for performance and 14.5 for economy.

some chips will be completely invisible to the dealers, and some wont. this will be a question to ask the specific manufacturer you decide to buy from.

APR chips, for instance, are 100% undetectible.

I've been talking to a guy from Revo about mapping my 2.0tdi dsg and they seem very good people to talk to about a remap.I'm unsure if Audi can tell if you've messed with it but they do give you a 'key' that can switch the engine back to stock.

Ive booked in with celtic tuning for a remap on friday this week.

As quoted by celtic: "We can take the 103bhp 1.9 TDi in the A3 up to 155bhp giving a 52bhp
increase and around 80lbft torque. We specialise in VAG tuning and can provide all levels of tuning requirements for both diesel and petrol
engines. All our maps are developed using the dyno so be assured that reliability and performance are optimised.

Now that sounds quite quick for an a3 - I will post my results over the weekend and let u know what i think.

it sure does sound good on paper

roll on friday morning

Well after some delays with the installer (damaged his leg playing football and couldn't drive for a week) i finally got the audi remapped yesterday and all i can say is wow!!!!!

WHY OH WHY DONT AUDI MAP EM LIKE THIS TO START WITH !

Its like driving a different car - so much more grunt at 3000+ revs upwards is amazing.

it pulls like a train now - will comment on mpg later in the week.

All those 1.9tdi owners unsure whether to do it or wondering if you notice a vast difference get it done - im back to "permanent grin" on my face, on the drive in to work ,I've not had that since the scooby went.

That's great that you're happy...yes..chip tuning makes you feel like you have a new car. You'll get used to it in a month or two and want more ..trust me!!

is there a chip like this available for the 2 door hatchback model (1.6), that is also undetectable by AUDI during the service?

Only just found this post.

youngie - I'm glad you avoided Superchips. I had one on my Octavia and it was piss poor.

syndrome69 - I think I'm right in saying that you'd get minimal gains on a 1.6. Turbos (petrol and diesel) are much more 'mappable'. And don't you believe it if people say some remaps are undetectable. If they want to find it they will.
