Default IPOD 2006 A6

I would like to know if you can integrate an IPOD to the new 2006 A6? My current 2003 Mercedes C320 has a plug in the glove compartment that I route my IPOD through and it works awesome. I like the new A6 4.2 but I'm told no capability of linking an IPOD which I find unbelievable. I'm hoping the salesman doesnt know for sure. I cant believe Audi would miss this. If it cant link I buy the E350 4-matic.

Anybody know anything about this??

The latest info that I have from folks on audiworld.com Audi will release official mp3 capable CD changer somewhere mid June for C6A6 and ipod glove compartment harness october november this year. But it is not official news afaik. Dealer offered me to connect phatnoise at the expense of navigation (or maybe CD changer), but it will not work through MMI. :-( so I am waiting for now...

Try what I did. I baught a Pioneer AVIC N-2 indash flipout gps system with the optional ipod support which goes behind the glove box and the wire is hidden in the glove box. Works perfectly with the sound system and is like heaven with the remote that can be used aswell.

Check this out.

http://www.fourtitude.com/news/publi...cle_2601.shtml

This is for 2007 Audi A8, but it is possible to integrate it on 2005 or later Audi A6 with MMI since it has almost same system as A8.
The Audi Music Interface(AMI) will be available as a factory-equipped option beginning with November production, and retrofit into cars listed below should be available starting in early 2007.
A6 (C6), A8 (D3), Q7, S6 (C6) and S8 (D3)

I have the 4.2 and I have found a dead end wherever I have searched for an integration kit. Audi does not currently offer anything for this model nor is there anything available from 3rd parties. I find it outrageous that bluetooth is available yet iPod direct connectivity to the MMI isn't. With over 4k songs on my iPod, it is something I truly miss.

That being said, I wouldn't buy another car just because of this issue. This car may be the nicest driving vehicle I have ever had (my last 4 cars have been 745i, 740Li, 740Li, 540i.

Still seeking help on how to convert from XM to Sirius. Do I just swap out the receiver in the trunk? What receiver do I need?

It's coming. Check out the S6 article on the home page of www.audiworld.com. In it, they refer to the iPod integration kit for MMI vehicles and mention a retrofit kit is in the works.
