I have a 2000 2.7t quattro which is suffering from a very wet passenger footwell. I suspect it is the result of a leak from the right wheel arch or, more likely, a blocked A/C drain line causing the condensed fluids to drip into the passenger compartment.

I've had a look under the car with the aim of finding the vent line from the A/C hoping to be able to clear it with compresed air. Unfortunately I couldn't find it so for now I'm just driving without the A/C. However, I do need to get this sorted - can anyone help?

I would wait a few days and report back to us if the AC stopped the leak. Then we can go from there on how to get to the drain line.

Positively a clogged A/C drain. Had this problem on my '00 Avant a couple of weeks ago. Audi dealer had to pull out the seats, remove the carpet to dry it. Otherwise, you'll be smelling something other than your leather real soon. Check my old post here under "Off-idle hesitation / Poss. heather core leak"

HEY PEOPLE WITH A6's OUT THERE! This seems to be a trouble area. Next time you're in for service, have some compressed air blown down your drain tubes!

Thanks - I've taken the passenger seat out and sure enough the whole left hand side of the car was swimming in water. I now suspect even more strongly that it is the air con causing the problem but I am none the wiser on where to find the drain line. Does anyone know where to look?

You'll have to pop off the plastic cowl cover, immediately in front of the windshield wipers. run as little bit of water on the right side cowl area and see where it goes.

I had the same problem in my 2000 2.7t quattro. Now all sorted.

Check your pollen filter housing. Take out the pollen filter, feel inside to see if it's wet or damp. If it is re-seal or change the housing. I just changed mine, easy diy job. In England Audi guarantee for two years.

There is a drain hole under the battery. Check around it?

Sure enough - it turned out to be a leak around the windscreen on the right hand side. The water was getting into the car through the pollen filter and into the ventilation system. I have re-sealed around the screen with silicone sealant (neatly so it does not show). I suspect this will work until the summer when the heat will cause differential expansion and contraction between the plastic trim and the glass. I'll just have to wait and see.
