It looks like he blew a seal that started pouring oil onto his exhaust long before the crash, then on the crash the oil hit his rear tire finally...It was a straight, so there wasn't any reason to lowside otherwise...

Yep, Christian Kellner blew a motor going into the Chicane at Assen. This was a WSS race and later in the season Kellner took out his teammate and himself from any efforts on a good year. A Corner Marshall also broke a leg in this wreck.
