look for a vaccum leak, that is what the problem normally is. By the way is it a 2.8 or 2.7T

You're may not be able to "tell" if they are wearing out. You're better off just replacing them. The dealer should sell vac hose by the foot. A better alternative is to go to a porche dealer and buy theirs (3mm If i remember right). They last longer than the Audi stuff.

Thanks I will consider doing that although the hoses look like new. I have also thought about the purge valve being stuck open which may cause the lean condition (P1136 & P1138) and also the P0441 (incorrect purge flow) as well as the P0455 (large leak detectede mmission control system).

I also failed to mention that after feuling the car is difficult to start. It will crank and sputter to life only after feathering the gas pedal and getting the rev's up for about 10 to 15 seconds. I'm thinking this could also be a lean condition created by a malfunctioning purge valve.

Any comments on these thoughts?

I replace the purge value ($140.00 from a local Audi dealer) took about 15 minutes. Went back to the shop and cleared the codes. I have about 25 miles on since clearing the codes and so far so good. No CEL yet, may have solve the problem. I'll post again if it comes back.

Thanks for the help it greatly appreciated.
