New to the message board but not the scene. Where do you guys go for parts for the older audis. Please dont tell me dealer because then I'll hang myself . I think the driveshaft is bent or center bearing is going. The car shakes during low speed and I can hear a grinding noise from underneath the car. as the speed increases the noise and shaking go away.

Dealer wants 2k for driveshaft. car is only worth 200 bluebook. Would it be cheaper to go performance aftermarket? If so where do I go?

Thanks in advance.

A good junk yard is the best place. I go to a U pull-it in PA that charges $2 to get in, I can leave with about $500 worth of stuff at the dealer and only cost me $20 at the yard. There are also many places online for used Audi parts. One site that I go to puts the part up on a board and the places that have it Email you with a price. Something large like you want would be to costly to ship so you would have to find one in your area.

Sounds to me like you have a Quattro!

Junk yard, salvage yard, etc. is probably your best bet. My favorite one is in NJ they let you roam the yard and don't charge anything to do so. If you pull the parts it is practically dirt cheap.

If the drive shaft is bent you can send it to specialty place that does drive shafts modifications and repairs. Contrary to popular dealer myth, the shaft is rebuildable. Audi doesn't sell the individual parts but Mercedes and BMW have similar if not the exact parts. Do a Google search and you should be able to find some info. I know I have seen it but don’t remember if I bookmarked it or saved it.

Another possibility is www.audiconnection.com. I'm not too familiar with the site, but you can contact someone about parts i believe.
