Hello
During a general tinkering session over the weekend I removed the throttle body from my 1991 Audi 90 2.3 20Valve (7A engine) to give it a thorough clean. When it was off I noticed that the butterfly valve plate in the primary choke has a shaped wedge of alloy screwed to it. It would appear that it acts as an airflow restrictor. If this is what it's for why is it fitted? Why shouldn't I remove it?
Does anyone know what it's there for and why Audi fitted it?
Thanks,

Without seeing it is hard to say but I suspect that it is there to smooth out the air flow, reducing turbulence and increasing air velocity.
