Default cup holder help

Ok, so i know it's a very common problem with these crappy cup holders, but i'm going ot ask anyways.

The cup holders in question are the ones that are below the arm rest. My car is a 98 2.8 manual quattro if that makes any difference. They are both stuck closed. I was wondering how I owuld go about pulling out the dual holder unit. Is it just a matter of pulling? Or is there a latch somewhere along the line?

Are they the ones that pop out? You have to take the center counsel apart.

yeah, the one right by the hand brake.

The part more towards the shifter has dropped down, i don't see any broken tabs, but it just hangs on by the other end, and bounces when i go over rough surfaces and makes an annoying sound at times. Is there any way to reattach that end of it w/o taking apart the center console? If anyone has got a schematic of how it all connects, it would help wonders. I just want to reattach the lose end to clean up the look.

Same here cary, I found a way to keep it down, I use the gate remote for my job, clip it on the back and pop it down... it looks pretty ghetto but at least it's not up anymore [8D]
