A6 Ashtray removal
 

Can anyone advise how to remove the front console ashtray assembly in an A6 Avant model - 97.

Need to re- assemble tilting cig lighter, has popped out.

do you have a pic of the ashtray?

On the a4's you pull out the little tray inside. Open the ashtry half way and you can see two little metal tabs, one on each side. You take two screw drivers and press them down and the whole assembly pulls out.

Thanks for the reply - yes I had an A4 previously, and this was the case.
A6 does not seem to conform to the same design ??

Trouble is the plastc is so fragile, that I am trying to get sound advice before forcing what i believe to be tangs or clips.
