Ok, winters upon us in the Uk now and its getting colder by the day.

I hate having to get into my car these mornings as it seems to take forever for the heater to warm up.

When i say forever i mean 20-30 minutes for anykind of warmth.

If i set the temp to say 25 and press auto the aircon symbol comes on, now surely thats the last thing you need on a cold frosty morning.

Anyone having or had a similar problem with the A6's or A4's for that matter?

Or any tips how to get it up to temp quicker?

A6 2.5tdi

Thx in advance

wow, something is very wrong. My car blows hot air in less than 5 minutes at below freezing temperatures.

I think you need to bleed your heater core. Jestomen gave me this link.

How long does it take your coolant temperature to reach mid way?

5 minutes tops, which is why i cant understand why it takes so long to come through into the car.

What difference would that make anyway, out of curiousity

just making sure your thermostat is functioning properly. Sounds like something is up with your heater core.

let a few things being checked before you start replacing the heater core...
First of all check the pressure of fluid of the airco
after that check if the airco radiator doesn't freeze when the heater is working..
if it freezes, it can be aircofluid, the temparature sensor or fouling in the aircopipes...
If there's a problem with the airflow... it can be the unit that's controls the airflow or 1 or both fans can be broken...

Small tip: when you turn on the heater push the economy button... it wil cause the airco to bypass the compressor... If the problem is something with the aircoradiator freezing this should help a little bit and it will give u a hint where to look...
