MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought

reality1011 -> MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/1/2006 1:40:19 AM)

MAN today was a TERRIBLE DAY. I got the Audi A6 that I was looking at. drove it and looked at it.... signed all the papers
paid for it, then we (the dealer, my friend, and myself) went to get temp tags from an independent agency.... on the way home
smoke starts rising from the dash, immediately pulling over and seeing flames we get out...

SO NOW THIS CAR IS IN MY NAME AND I HAVE TO CLAIM IT....

sux

wow that sux man sorry to hear that. hope everything works out

Suite3.0A4 -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/1/2006 3:48:24 PM)

Sorry to hear that man. BTW, did you purchase that warranty that you were looking into??

reality1011 -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/1/2006 5:23:46 PM)

not yet... I had 10 days after the purchase to do this....

good news is that the seller fells really bad and wants to make up for this bad transaction....

so hes offering to give me another a6, with 30K less miles....

we will see what happens when the insurance company contacts me

VeGaS -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/1/2006 6:55:40 PM)

hopefully everything is going to be cool
sorry man

dankhound -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/1/2006 9:33:32 PM)

There was a recall on the a6 to prevent the headlight harness from shorting out and causing a fire. May want to check and see if this was performed or whether it was performed correctly.

beefski -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/1/2006 10:52:43 PM)

Sorry to hear. Call Audi USA giving them the vin they will be able to verify if the recall noted previously was done.

reality1011 -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/1/2006 11:24:25 PM)

I did call audi and asked them about its history and they told me that the car was in for recall checks didnt specify what checks though
...

but do you know when that recall came out? this way I know if and when the check was done

BadLuckAudi -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 6:36:07 AM)

Man whats with the Audi's burning up, an S4 went up just a little while ago

reality1011 -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 9:15:58 AM)

come to think of it... I did have the lights on and the fog lights on as well.

do you think Audi would be responsible for something like this?

techbod -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 9:23:44 AM)

since your getting another car why bother your self, and yes they could be held responsible because its designed to run with those lights on

reality1011 -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 9:36:17 AM)

well for a couple of reasons...

1. I would rather not have this hit my insurance especially since I didnt have the car for 10 minutes.
2. They might, slight chance, hook me up with a deal or help me replace the car with something comparable.

its just a thought but then again I know I called them and they said that the car was in for a warranty check, and the last time it was in was in 2004, right around the time that the recall came out... so I dont know.. but I am going to contact audi on monday and see what they say

techbod -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 9:46:50 AM)

well that's simple "its just a car change" the problem doesn't need to be reported to the insurance its to be kept between you and the seller don't tell the insurance company other wise you will create a history and that's not good

reality1011 -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 10:15:33 AM)

i already reported it.... I have to otherwise I am putting myself in jeopardy of losing 16g's....

the dealer is saying that he will give me another car, a better value, at the same price...

my question is this... could the dealer that sold me the car be responsible for neglecting the recall???

it seems as though unless I want to persue this legally I am not going to get much further than the insurance company.

techbod -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 11:24:29 AM)

its not a question of pursuing the seller he did the right thing so your insurance company cant hold it against you regardless, if they did and if they did you can pursue a claim against them for deformation of character "you did nothing wrong" so you want proof they wont harm your claims bonus

reality1011 -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 11:30:21 AM)

in sorry I think you are confusing my words....

by dealer I was thinking audi.

techbod -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 11:32:20 AM)

seller[;)]

reality1011 -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 11:41:02 AM)

are you saying the seller is responsible for this?

techbod -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 11:42:21 AM)

yes

reality1011 -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 11:43:35 AM)

justify that reasoning... please

techbod -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 11:49:26 AM)

you bought a car in good working condition "less than 24 hrs" they are responsible for all repairs free or replacement of the goods as to what you purchased "unless the car was sold as seen" and even then you have rights to claim you cash back

reality1011 -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 11:52:48 AM)

the car was sold as is. and I attempted to claim my cash back but there is obviously a conflict on what exactly can be done.

techbod -> RE: MY A6 CAUGHT FIRE.... 10 minutes after it was bought (4/2/2006 11:59:14 AM)

its all down to the wording of the advert for sale, if he/she said it was good working order then they lied and you have a case
