MAN today was a TERRIBLE DAY. I got the Audi A6 that I was looking at. drove it and looked at it.... signed all the papers
paid for it, then we (the dealer, my friend, and myself) went to get temp tags from an independent agency.... on the way home
smoke starts rising from the dash, immediately pulling over and seeing flames we get out...

SO NOW THIS CAR IS IN MY NAME AND I HAVE TO CLAIM IT....

sux

That really sucks. Insurance I hope? What was the cause?

good news is that the seller fells really bad and wants to make up for this bad transaction....

so hes offering to give me another a6, with 30K less miles....

we will see what happens when the insurance company contacts me

There was a recall on the a6 to prevent the headlight harness from shorting out and causing a fire. May want to check and see if this was performed or whether it was performed correctly.

...

come to think of it... I did have the lights on and the fog lights on as well.

do you think Audi would be responsible for something like this?

since your getting another car why bother your self, and yes they could be held responsible because its designed to run with those lights on

well for a couple of reasons...

1. I would rather not have this hit my insurance especially since I didnt have the car for 10 minutes.
2. They might, slight chance, hook me up with a deal or help me replace the car with something comparable.

its just a thought but then again I know I called them and they said that the car was in for a warranty check, and the last time it was in was in 2004, right around the time that the recall came out... so I dont know.. but I am going to contact audi on monday and see what they say

well that's simple "its just a car change" the problem doesn't need to be reported to the insurance its to be kept between you and the seller don't tell the insurance company other wise you will create a history and that's not good

i already reported it.... I have to otherwise I am putting myself in jeopardy of losing 16g's....

the dealer is saying that he will give me another car, a better value, at the same price...

my question is this... could the dealer that sold me the car be responsible for neglecting the recall???

it seems as though unless I want to persue this legally I am not going to get much further than the insurance company.

its not a question of pursuing the seller he did the right thing so your insurance company cant hold it against you regardless, if they did and if they did you can pursue a claim against them for deformation of character "you did nothing wrong" so you want proof they wont harm your claims bonus

you bought a car in good working condition "less than 24 hrs" they are responsible for all repairs free or replacement of the goods as to what you purchased "unless the car was sold as seen" and even then you have rights to claim you cash back

the car was sold as is. and I attempted to claim my cash back but there is obviously a conflict on what exactly can be done.

its all down to the wording of the advert for sale, if he/she said it was good working order then they lied and you have a case
