Not gunna work on your car you have to have a chip soldered in no matter what, the guy is on crack, and your best bet is to go with GIAC they are much better for the B5 platform REVO is best for B6ers

Default RE: revo software or not?

This guy is completely rong. I have a 2000 B5 Passat 1.8t. Same car, same ECU. I am revo "chipped" and it works great. The ECU in these cars is very, very sophisticated and revo does extensive testings. If the conditions cannot tollerate a high boost the ECU will compensate and put the boost at a safe level. My car peaks at 18 psi and holds 16 psi. I never had it dynoed but it now spins first on a clean dry road . Go to www.revotechnik.com put in your car and it will tell you what king of HP and TQW you will get. Plus REVO has the 5 hour trial so you can always try it out and see how you like it. It is completely safe for your car and the best bang for the buck.
