want to lower my car but hear its v bad to just put springs on (altho was fine on last car is ford different ???)

but then i hear its costly to have them set up correct as not in installed but just alining the shocks height ?? surely i can just walk around the car and ajust each one my self untill they r all sat just under the arch so the car is proper level
