What will Happen if you pinch off the line going to the wastgate.



I have a 2000 audi a4 1.8t

A friend tells me that i will gain boost.

i think i know the pros but what are the cons to doing this??

uh, the wastegate wont open...and your turbo will have a meltdown

youll be running straight boost, and if your not super careful, there will be pistons flying out your hood :P

I'm not an expert by any means, but your wastegate regulates the amount of pressure (boost) it adds to your intake.  If you eliminate it, your turbo will make TOO much boost, and bad things will happen...
I'd do a little reading/learning/googling on what the wastegate does if you're curious...
