Hey folks ...I am a proud new owner of a 2005 A6. I bought one of my local dealers demos with 200 miles on it for close to cost! Couldn't pass up that deal ... BUT ...the car was equipped with XM satellite radio, and I was hoping to get Sirius instead as I am a big football fan and Sirius has the NFL package. Anyone know if I can just swap out the tuner? I would think it would be fairly simple, but I also don't want to fork over $500 bones to get a totally new Sirius installed at the dealership.

I would assume you could just change out the tuner as the car comes prewired for satellite radio. I am looking into getting the sirius (as my little bro worked for XM during their programming/configuration period and got totally screwed by them as far as overtime pay goes) if you get any info please post here! Thanks! I think all I will need to do is to buy the tuner but I could be wrong.

PS Congrats on the new purchase!!!! 3.2 or 4.2????

You can ask the dealer to do you a favor and swap out the units, should be quick.

Well ...the latest update from the dealer is that they aren't willing to switch out the Xm for the Sirius (WHAT WOULD THEY DO WITH THE XM BOX?) is what they told me. So, at first blush, they want me to buy a whole new Sirius box, which would be like $500 bones. At that price, I'll find a station on XM that I like!

PS -Jinxxycat -it's a 3.2, and thanks for the congrats. I love the car. I would recommend the advanced key btw, one of the handiest features believe it or not.
