Default Avic D1 install in an 02 a4

I've had a few questions that have been brewing up in my head for a couple weeks now. I have an avic d1 just sitting around my house and i kinda wanted the nav in my audi but i have a few questions.

1) What will happen to the screen in the middle of the dash that displays the title and artist name? Will the top part just be blank and the rest should still work?
2) I have the bose system and best buy tells me that i dont have to rewire, they sell some converter or something that will make it sound fine, is this true?
3) Has anyone had any luck when installing a double din with this scosche kit? Double Din Kit

PS - Best Buy wants $400 to install, doesnt seem like the best buy to me....

Aight...
1. Top should go blank rest should be fine.
2. You can get the factory amp bypass wire kit but i dunno if it is avaible for your car just double check and bring it back if it dont work.
3. I have never used the schosche kit but some people on here said it need a good ammount of trimming and moddifications to fit good.
$400 for install is nuts. At my circuit city your looking at.... $250-300 depending if you have the backup camera, xm nav trafic, or Xm/Sirius tuner box hook up. Hope it helps.

oh thanks for the help, i just talked to my local circuit city and they say that they can get it done for $130 including parts and labor! Im probably going to hop on it, but they said that the factory sub (if i even have one???) probably isnt going to be adjustable anymore. But, they said it should still work, this worries me quite a bit.... What do you think?

Yea you probably wont be able to adjust it, but honestly the factory sub aint nothing special. If you want your D1 in i think it out weighs the performance of the factory sub greatly. IMO i would deffinatley do it $130 not a bad price.

So if was to put my avic-n2 in my 01 s4. Would the scosch kit work for it or would i be better with this one for an a6...I saw some one who used the a6 kit for the n1.

I dont really care about having to shave/sand it to fit. And the cost is no big deal as long as it fit/looks perfect. I want to make sure I buy the proper one so its less of a hassle.

Wow, sweet threadjack....... jk man, seriously though, we need someone who knows something about these audis. There seems to be a big gray area when it comes to putting a double din and whatnot in.

the scosche kit is gonna be the one you ar going to end using for it is the only kit i know of off the top of my head you can prob get it cheaper if you dont mind picking it up off ebay or shop around online like crutchfield or sounddomain both of which are authorized internet dealers

^ thats cool. I guess metra makes a kit that i thought i have seen before and the shop says they can get it for like 20 bucks

We will see if they hold their end of the bargain, they tend to be a little sketchy...
