Hi -

Am wondering if anyone knows how to hook up an iPod to 2005 A6 3.2? I notice that the MMI seems to allow for different "sources" in the CD area. Would be in heaven if there was a way to hook up iPod to actually be controlled by MMI but would settle for a connection that allowed iPod to play, get muted, etc... but controlling song selection, etc... on the iPod itself.

“The first iPod integration kit for the "M.O.S.T. fibre optic" system...
The ice>Link Fibre is the ice>Link Plus for fibre optic vehicles. The ice>Link Fibre is the first of its kind, letting you integrate the iPod into the fibre optic component loop found in many new vehicles. The M.O.S.T. system is a growing technology that will soon be found in the majority of tomorrows vehicles.”

Supported vehicles
BMW 5,6 and 7 series
AUDI A6, A8

That link is broken.
and I haven't seen any module that would connect IPod to 2005, 2006 Audi A6 yet.
I actually am giving up my hope to install Ipod on my 2006 A6, and looking forward
to 2007 A6 that will come with MP3 CD Changer.
I do not know if it will fit in my 2006 A6, but if it does, that will do for me to play mp3
from CD.
Of course I won't be able to watch movies as I hoped, but... oh well...

BUT, if anyone knows what and how to install Ipod to new A6s, please, PLEASE.
Let Us Know.

Thank you.

I've been researching this for a while now (for a friend) and the options are few and poor. Denison (of IceLink fame) has been promising something for a while but has yet to produce. Don't hang by your thumbs now that they've dropped the IceLink in favor of the DICE product.

Audi supposedly has something in the works but it will be a while still. At this time, you're best bet would be to go to www.ilounge.com and find the best FM transmitter solution (i.e., attach mini FM transmitter to iPod and tune head unit into that). There is supposedly one that now uses RDMS to take advantage of the ability of some radios (including ours) to display text from that source.

Good luck.

Check this out.

http://www.fourtitude.com/news/publish/Features/article_2601.shtml

This is for 2007 Audi A8, but it is possible to integrate it on 2005 or later Audi A6 with MMI since it has almost same system as A8.
The Audi Music Interface(AMI) will be available as a factory-equipped option beginning with November production, and retrofit into cars listed below should be available starting in early 2007.
A6 (C6), A8 (D3), Q7, S6 (C6) and S8 (D3)

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, Audi USA had an intergration cable on their site http://www.audi-collection.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=4F0051510A&Cat=car&sublevel=13 Any idea if this works? What is involved with setup? The dealer I called today was clueless.

Thanks,

The cable will not work with the MMI Nav system. The only integration for Ipod is the DENSION Gateway 500 IPOD INTEGRATION system and can be purchased at the following site for 499.00 http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/DENSION_GW5RMT0D1.html

I don't know if this is of any use to you but i had an interface cable installed in my 04 A6 and it is fully integrated with all of my stereo controls cost me about 200 bucks installed at a local car audio store.  The interface plugs into the back of you deck where the optional sat. radio would plug in so if you want sat. radio and an ipod you will have to buy another component and don't know how much that cost because i only wanted my ipod.
