Hey everyone

I have been browsing the forum for several days now, and after seeing the recent post of "many" RS4 pics, I am whole heartedly convinvinced, the RS4 is for me. I plan on ordering in the very near future. But, I do have a problem!. Which color. I was sure about black until I saw pics in Daytona Grey, yet, I have seen no pics in black. HHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!
Does anyone have any good pics in black? If any have been previously posted and I haven't found them, direction to those pics would be greatly appreciated. Or, if anyone has pics of their own to share, I can't wait to see.

Thanks in advance

I was choosing between the same two colors when i shopped around for my S4. Get black if u have the time to clean it constantly, go for daytona grey if u dont have the time. just my $.02

And the answer becomes obvious!!! Let's just say, if I don't have enough time to clean it, I'll just have to create the time- less sleep maybe (I wouldn't be able to sleep with that unbelievable black RS4 in my garage anyway). Thank you so much for the thoughts and pics. No more decisions to make, just need to order.

Sounds like you have made your decision. Black is a great choice, probably 3rd on my list. First is obviously daytona and second sprint blue...FYI! One of the reasons I didn't like the phantom is b/c it hides detail. Kinda like a fat chic wearing black out to a club/less is revealed. If Black is what you want then get it! If you are looking for a suttle approach but at the same time noticeable, I would choose Daytona (shows more of the pearl effect). If you are looking for "here I am and don't I look awesome" go for the sprint. Just adding my $0.02 in there before you commit to an $80,000 resonsibility. Don't know if this persuades but hope it helps!

I put both side by side and with all due respect to Trev Pearl Black is the color! My dealer had both on the showroom floor... either one is a great choice you can't go wrong.

IMO the car is big (relative) and needs a dark color and the black is just awsome in the sun, sets the curves off just right.

Again just my opinion...

Thanks guys for all the input. Problem is all the colors look great. I also like the sprint blue, but too many subarus, fords etc. have ruined it for me. Unfortunately, liking black cars is like a chronic illness- once you get it you can't get rid of it. I keep trying to want a car that isn't black, but it never seems to work out that way. I am sold on the black- it just does it for me. Too bad we all can't have three or four, then we could have the benefits of all the best colors

I know this is late but I agree with Trev, the B6 body is absolutely sick in black, but for some reason the lines and contours in the B7 don't jive well in the black. My favorite color for the RS4 is definitely blue. Plus black is a horrible, hear me, absolutely horrible color to care for. I will never buy another black car!!!

I know how you feel. I decided on Phantom Black when I ordered my RS4. I wanted another color but Phantom Black seemed menacing! I'm sure keeping it clean will be...just like the other 7.

You hit the nail on the head docstring when you said subarus and fords ruined the blue. That is one of the main reasons I switched FYI. I said on here a few months ago, it reminded me of something out of "the fast and the furious"...I didn't want that (plus its an extra $2500 to get)! I will say it is one of the best shades of blue I have ever seen on a car and when you add in the pearl effect, OMG dude, its the sh**!
I wanted something a little more suttle, that wasn't as hard to keep clean, didn't show chips on the front as easy and finally...I wanted the color that had the best chance at quick resale if the thought or need should ever arise! Thus-Daytona was the best decision. Honestly, Phantom, Daytona and Sprint are the only colors that interest me and frankly are the only colors that look good. Red is ok but thats just it, its ok.
Glad you are set on a color. It is a very difficult decision to make considering they all look good. I teetered back and fourth until I finally stuck w/ Daytona. No matter what color you get, you will surely enjoy this car. Everyday my RS4 reaches a new milestone in my mind and the thrill of having one have only just begun.

No problem Doc. I will say from experience that the S button is nice but I do not use it all that much. It takes a while for the use to set in. Both "offroad" and I feel the same way about the engine noise VS exhaust. I love the way the car sounds w/out the S button on-you will know what I mean after you get yours. In terms of speed, there is not much diff after it is engaged. It does make the throttle effortless to control and the exhaust just barely over decibles the engine. Actually its about even. Regardless it is a cool option.

-Also wanted to share w/ all about the crotch rocket that messed w/ me yesterday. To lazy to start another thread FYI-LOL. I was cruizen to work and some A** came roar'n up behind me and was about an inch from my bumper for miles. I really wasn't in the mood, besides, I knew my chances were grim. I didn't plan on any retaliation but the idiot in front of me drivin a suburban and talking on his cell wasn't paying attention and almost made me and the A** behind me wreck.
I remember hearings as a little boy something that rang true after that..."lead, follow or get the hell out of the way"! So I decided to lead. Before I could, I had to wait for the suburban to yield first so I could speed around him once we finally reached a 4 lane rd.. Before he was finished, I punched it going up hill (in 1st gear) and didn't even notice how hard the C. rocket was having to try in order to keep up until I topped out in 3rd. Haha, man that felt great/What a great car-love this thing!
PS-the S button wasn't on.

i've been watching this thread from the sidelines debating color as well. i really wanted mugello blue with black but i guess "non-sold" cars in my region were only produced in black, grey and silver. the closest i could find was a mugello with silver interior and aluminum trim which didn't really do it for me.

so after looking at mugello vs phantom pictures back and forth all night (it is a sickness isn't it?) i decided on the phantom black with black interior. bad poet said it best that the phantom black looks manacing!!! total darth vader mobile!! and i like how the darker color offsets the brightwork on the car.

at first i agreed with the others who said the "lines" and "contours" of the car seem to disappear on the black cars, especially the fender flares. but here in southern california where the bright sun is always shining, the metal flakes in the phantom do "lighten" up around the curves in direct sunlight. so if that help any of you one way or another.

i'll post pics when i get it on monday!!!

"Lead, Follow or Get the Hell Out of the Way"

was a sign that sat on Ted Turner's desk for his entire career. I'm sure it predates him of course, but an interesting piece of trivia...

That is interesting and man how well it works when the thought arises. Good motivator to get out of the red and back into the green! Thanks for the Trivia.

seems like everyone on the road today has black or grey or white. yes, it will be an rs4, but take it a step farther, go sprint blue and you won't be disappointed. http://www.gotta-automobile.de/

Eventhough I am a Daytoan Gray owner...I couldn't agree more cheese Eater! I thought everyone would go for the Blue, red or black? Seems like everyone is going for Gray or Black. O'well... I guess I picked a good color!

phantom and daytona may be "common" colors but popular colors = easier to sell to the next guy

I agree about being easier to sell

Plus I want my car to look professional, not like a kid's toy. I think the blue looks good, but I can't really feel comfortable taking that to work.

Also, i like being discreet. Blue screams hello!!! to police and thieves and ricers.. I'll take the Daytona Gray as the perfect medium between no color (black) and full color (blue/red/yelow) :)

but they all look good, they are RS4s !

Re-sale/color is what I have been preaching about ever since I became a memeber. I would hate to have to give up this beauty but one day, I will and I don't want to twirl my thumbs waiting in the process. I am convinced that if you own a Phantom or Daytona-there will be no problem reselling.
That is the great thing about the Daytona (even the overall look/design of the car) it has a subtle/business like approach yet will wax almost anything in its path! Blue is a great color but I would have to agree w/ T.S.-I bought gray so I didn't have to worry as much about "poepoe". Thieves and ricers will still be able to determine its an RS4 but it won't be as prominant. They all DO look good.
PS-I didn't think Audi made the RS4 in White chees eater? HMMM?

i was using all makes of cars for the basic three colors, not just the rs. yes, they are neutral and easy to re-sell, but you aren't driving a camary either. you could sell this car even if it only came in poop brown. someone would buy it for the simple fact of what all it offers besides the paint... IT'S AN RS4 MAN! but, one does have to take into consideration thier location. i get looks all the time but it's because this shade of blue in germany is quite rare. seems like every third car i pass is an 4 series avant, but not this color. and as for thiefs, i had a dodge ram in north dakota and some punks broke into it because they were bored along with seven other cars in the parking lot of equal or lesser value. if some one wants to mess with your ride, i think the fact your car isn't their car is enough reason for that sort of punk to do what they do. i guess what i haven't really said is, if you like blue, you need to be able to see this in person because the tint changes in the light and pictures don't really tell it all. doc, what ever you do end up choosing, congrats on the purchase!

The shade of blue on the sprint IS awesone! I did want it but the cops in my area are like the gistapo, they're everywhere and crooked! B/c of my past I wanted to steer away from anything that would land me a ticket or a trip in the back of a squad car. With saying that I really really like the Daytona! It does it for me. I would like to see someone in a sprint RS4...that is the only color I have not seen in person! That blue is also very rare here in the states. Even if you find one with that shade, it doesn't have the pearl effect.

Actually Trev, Sprint Blue IS Pearl Effect and thus costs $750 extra. So when I switched to Daytona, it was actually cheaper. I've never seen Sprint either, hope I don't have regrets changing color.
