HI. I have just purchased my first a6 which is a 95 2.0e. sometimes the car wont start and a spanner type symbol flashes on the dash. i have noticed a relay clicking noise when i try to start the car. if it clicks aound 10-12 times the car wont start but if it clicks 6 times it goes. sometimes it takes up to 10 minutes and about 60 turns of the key. has anyone any advice?

could be the fuel pump relay, coolant temp sensor but you must have codes stored with this problem, the spanner light will be the EVAP system because it is starting so the excess fuel is being pumped into the carbon canister which would set an emissions warning, try fitting new spark plugs first
