Default 1995 Sport 90 cluster removal

Hi,

I have a 1995 Sport 90 and I am having difficulty removing my instrument cluster. I did it easily on my 1995 A6 because the steering wheel is adjustable and I adjusted it all the way out and down to give me room to remove wiring harnesses from back of cluster and remove.

However, my 1995 Sport 90 does not have an adjustable steering column and after I removed the steering column cover and then removed the 2 screws securing the cluster to dashboard, I tried to pull the cluster out many different ways but the steering wheel was in the way. Did I just not twist and turn the cluster properly to allow myself to remove it or does the STEERING WHEEL HAVE TO BE REMOVED on this car to remove the cluster? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
