I know it is a sad day. Yesterday my 1997 A6 and I finally separated. She took the new tires, new brakes, new surge tank, new belts hoses timing, oooo I still have the brand spanking new water pump and thermostat. I have to give her back the engine covers and spare key. It is going to be tough seeing her again.
That whore. The radio kept fading further and further, the antilock brake sensors were shot, clicks and knocks and rattles all over, 3 quarts of oil in 7 days (admittedly that was 2400 miles but still). The oil smoke coming from the exhaust was the final breaking point... bye bye oil seals and soon to be Cats. Not to say I could not fix her but so much freaking money goes into my Audi and she has treated me well for the last 180000, but it was time to upgrade.
SO...
Mazdaspeed 6 2006. You guys ever heard of it? AWD, 2.3L big turbo, 274 hp 280 ftlb, pretty much every thing exactly the same as my A6 (leather bose dimensions etc), but better fuel economy and better power (and a 6 speed). I got it slightly used (1 month) before it got repossesed. I know, it is not an Audi, but if I could change my vote on the "Do you drive your car because it is an Audi or because of what you get?" thread, I am gonna say what I get. It is a one year only thing I think, way freaking cool car.
I am still taking it hard but I think it is the end of our relationship here at Audiforums too, what if the new owner of my A6 showed up and then it would be awkwrd. Anyway goodbye and it has been fun diagnosing broken cars.
