Do a search about BOV's.

I'm a newbie to the Audi world too (don't even own one yet) but it's a closed-loop system just like Eclipses which are my 'specialty.' Blow-off valves are designed for an open-loop system whereas a bypass valve/diverter valve are for closed-loop. If you were to put a BOV on an Audi w/o modification of some sort then you would be running rich in between shifts. This would very slowly cause damage to the turbo and simply harm your engine -- rich conditions are just bad, leave it at that. The air that is being vented to the atmosphere is no longer being metered by the MAF. I'm not sure which kind of aftermarket support there is for running a true BOV on an Audi but for DSMs/Eclipses there's the Maf-Translator + 3" GM MAF sensor setup allowing you to run a BOV correctly.

Simply put, don't run a BOV. Go get a diverter valve/bypass valve. Look at the Forge 007, I've been reading reviews like crazy and they seem to be overall very nice for the $.

u can put one on but it needs it has to have an extremely tight spring. we put one on my friends car (1.8t passat). it was from turbo xs and we had to add all the washers it came with to keep the car from stalling. the problem is when u make the spring in the bov stiff enough to where ur car wont stall, the vacum pressure has a hard time opening the valve so when u drive slow you can hear turbo surge because the valve is not opening. in the long run its not good for your turbo. iv hear of people using hybrid bov's but have never seen actualy seen one.

another thing is my friend noticed his car was alittle slower with it. we could never figure out why.

what if you do the B5 intake DIY mod and then put in BOV.
would the extra air coming in be moniterd by the MAF and not run rich.

i dunno just a suggestion....

the intake air is before the MAF, it gets measured.

there are ways to use a bov on an audi but they're expensive. i dont see the point in spending extra money just to show-off. not to mention a k03 is like a hairdryer and wont produce that loud of a noise with a bov either

first thing, turn off the caps. secondly wut do you mean it plugs it up? does it vent to atmosphere then? if so ya its bad. it means your running rich and will cause problems down the road. switch it for a forge 007 or 710n(<-- cheaper but not as good as a 007)

Just get a diverter valve and an intake.  Has a good sound to it and wont F up your ride, end of story.  Buy a bigger turbo and stop thinkin about these gay BOVs

I don't understand why everyone freaks out about BOV's on Audi's.  I've never owned an Audi but it should be similar to my other car.  All you have to know is that a BOV is releasing metered air to the atmosphere meaning that your CPU is supplying a specific ammount of fuel for the air thats in the intake tract.  When the BOV is vented to the atmosphere you now have an excess of fuel causing a rich condition.  This can cause the car to stall if you aren't expecting it.  Also, the reason the car feels slower is also due to this loss of metered air.  When the BOV is recirculated to the intake, after the metering device, it keeps the engine running efficiently and helps keep the turbo spooled.

Now that I've proven I'm not a complete noob, please explain what all can be damaged on your engine by this slight rich condition.  I run my BOV vented to the Atmosphere on my Supra and I have not had any problems that you have discussed.  I know it should be recirculated but I'm working on running standalone so I have deceided to leave it alone till I have that installed.

I'm doing this research as more of a theorhetical exercise.  I am considering an A4 as a DD but it will most likely be a 2.8 (I want reliable and the Supra is the car that I modify).
