i came up with one:

1st introduction of the air-cooled VW Beetle to america didnt go so well. The american residents have never seen a car like that and mistook it for a monster and tried attacking it. One beetle tried to escape unsuccesfully. All american air-cooled beetle imports were cancelled and postponed a couple centuries.
