I have not tried YET, but will-and when I do, I'll let ya know. Shouldn't be a big deal though. Just run it through an auxillary port on the factory head/amp. I wish Audi would have built the RS4 for IPod use rather than MP3 chips FYI.

I already have one and changing the station while driving on the digital readout or trying to avoid static blows! Plus, using an FM transmitter kills the volume.

i just transfered all my mpeg4 itunes to mp3 format and shoved it all onto a 1GB SD card and play it all off the factory sound system. that way you can use the steering wheel controls and it interfaces with the phone and shuts off when you get a call. and you don't have this funny white thingie on your center console in an otherwise beautiful black interior...

you can get a 1GB or 2GB SD card at any best buy or other electronics store. bout $50-$80 bux each but they store alot. i use it in my digital camera and cell phone too so for me they're handy to have around. also slots right into my laptop too so i can organize and sort files easily.

as far as converting MPEG4 files to MP3 files, you need to use your computer and get some sort of "file converter" that i think you can find online. i had one of the guys who work for me convert all my files (he's a big music/ipod geek) so i'll ask him for details as i'm not quite sure myself how he did it exactly. but you need to have all your ipod tunes on your computer, convert the files, then store them on the SD card. but once you've done all that, you just insert the card into the SD slot in the car and you're done. as you add new songs to your collection, you can update the card once in a while.

I had the dealer install the cable and it resides in the glove box. Be aware it nullifies the CD changer,
in my opinion a small price to pay. If you have NAV you can play single CD's in that slot (labled as "CD 7").

What exactly did your dealer install to enable you to run your iPod? Is there an auxiliary input in the audio system, and do you still have functionality with Nav, as well as bluetooth and your phone?

Regret I don't have a part number or parts list. I asked the dealer to install at delivery. Cost $350.00.

I believe its just an iPod cable and adapter rig for the rear of the stereo. The cable is 3 feet long and I chose to put in the glovebox. It's long enough to pull out when needed and installed it disables the CD Changer.
There is Audi specific software as the Audi rings display on the iPod and the standard display font changes to bold. The cable is powered it charges the iPod. The Nav screen display, source menu, calls it "CD".
The individual CD labels, 1-6, when selected, will play corresponding playlists from the iPod (the first 6 playlists). No iPod data is displayed on the car's Nav screen. It's not perfect but it works for me. Full functionality of NAV and Bluetooth/Phone are retained.

Who's your dealer? I'd love to call and speak to someone there about what they did to install your iPod. Thanks.

Please forgive the late reply. The iPod set up in the car is less than perfect. I've been trying to diagnose the problem with a local aftermarket expert who specializes in highend Euro cars but no luck. He tells me there are two national companies that primarily work in this area, they are ICE and Axxess, and to date they have no answer because Audi has switched to a MOST system: Media Oriented Systems Transport. I am certainly no expert on car entertainment/nav systems but our diagnosis is the Audi system is not considering that the iPod is running a slightly amplified signal back to the audio system. I know this sounds elementary but we believe it's that simple. Whatever is happening is distorting playback at high volume. One other idea I'm going to try is to burn a CD with different compression/sampling rates then drop that into the iPod as a test playlist, should be interesting. The distortion only appears during iPod playback, everything else sounds fine.
I would never consider any dealer to assist in this type of problem. Because the car is so new the trouble shooting method is to switch out components until the problem disappears. fyrwlkr, sorry for the long winded story, my dealer is Roger Beasley, Austin, TX.
If anybody could help it would be appreciated. Thanks.

This is all very strange when you think about how easy it would have been for Audi to set up an iPod(or any mp3 player for that matter) interface. BMW has a spot in the center armrest where you put your player and plug it into the system. Hardly revolutionary. How could Audi have missed it? SD cards are fine, but people want to be able to move their tunes around with them.
