With this car, what modifications would you have done? Has anyone in the US been able to find an European RS4 steering wheel, or have installed the racing Recaros? Would there be any other type of modifications?

that wheel is bad ass, i don't know how you can get one, but unless you track this car and only track it, the racing seats suck. i was looking at after market for the s4, and i had the chance to sit in them at nekarsulm. it is too constricting. the sides ride high and if you are using this car as a daily, the in and out is awkward to say the least. i tried it in a seat set of in the testing room "imagining" i was in the car and it was a hastle getting out of then in the actual car was a joke. unless all you do is track, the recaro is perfect for daily needs.

Couldn't agree more on the seats! I am 6'2 and getting out with the Recaro's is hard enough. When I first heard of the seat change to the US I was bummed, however, after seeing the recaro's before my purchase, sitting in them, knowing that they are electronic instead of manual, heated (good for resale, when its cold as SH**) and they flat out look better w/ the piping...I am more than happy with them. When you go on small or long trips you want the recaros. I make a 2hr drive once a week and even the recaros get kind of stiff by the time I arrive, imagine how the euro version seats would feel..."AHHH my A**"! The Euro steering wheel does look awesome but, when I went out to din w/ another RS4 owner and my salesman, I was shocked to hear a negative review and it was a good one at that. I heard that when you make sharp abrupt turns on the euro wheel, if your hands are sweaty, you tend to loose grip and your hand SLIPS on the matte/flat bottom wheel. Its 2 elements that cause this: 1. the matte finish (obviously) and 2. the switch from a round to strait pattern has shown to be more than difficult according to many on the track. On the otherhand, If a flat bottom wheel was avail w/ the exact same carbon fiber accents instead of matte...I might have to switch hehe. All said, I love the changes audi made for the US version. Stadard 19" wheels, steering wheel (aside from the looks but atleast its perforated), user friendly seats that still look great and then the best part "CUP HOLDERS" instead of a dinky start button. If you didn't need a key to start it like the Q7 then I would be a fan but, since you still have to insert a key w/ the start button, whats the point? I love having cup holders to hold my shiznit or drinks/lot more practical!
If I knew I would never get rid of my RS I would def mod some performance. Basic things I still am going to do like certain security features, tinted windows, hardwire a VR-1 detector, iPod direct link, mobile TV interfaced w/ the existing screen along w/ DVD ability, maybe an exhaust and K&N the Air Filter. That will probably be it. Every 1-2 years have the front end oversprayed so I don't have to put on a clear bra/minimize the chips by not driving on the highway FYI.
What I would do if I knew I was gonna keep it forever: would love to supercharge it (mainly for torque purposes & I don't want to wait for a turbo to "wind up") but, would like to keep it N.A. if possible. A new air induction system, def an exhaust, throttle body work, diff high flow cat, headers, drop another cooling fan in the engine bay/this engine runs hot-especially w/ synthetic, chip, maybe a 50 shot of NOS primarily for show unless I was in a "jam" and a few other tricks I know of to make it a rocket ship. LOL! Might change the rotors to cross drilled and SLOTTED, other than that...the brakes are perfect! Would def lower it and buy some 20" deep dish 3 piece wheels on some Michelin PS2's. Engineer it where they didn't scrubb in reverse BTW. have some custom moldings on the outside, full plexiglass box w/2 JL or Cerwin Vega 10's-colored to match mirrors and neons mounted around them in the box in trunk on top of everything else that comes with a system....wouldn't have TV's everywhere though FYI. The list would go on and on but I am tired of writing what seems like a book-LOL! That is basically what I would do.

i was thinking about what mods i would do on my RS4, and i think i'd like bigger cupholders. does that count as a mod?

it speaks highly of a car when i can't think of a single performance thing i would change on it. maybe after i've had it for a year, something might come to mind. but for now, my only desired change is because my big commuter mug full of morning joe won't fit. and they're also too big for red bull cans. i'm having total goldilocks syndrome with the cupholders...

HAHAHA, that would be hilarious if you went into a prefab shop and said "ya, I want to mod out my cup holders". That is def a first tsu! I agree, it would have been cool if they made one of the two cup holders bigger than the other. O'well, I guess Z Germans figured one size fits all, not in America. Don't getme wrong, this car has everything I could want on it already but, if I knew I would have it forever and it was paid off...I would most def play with it a little. I think it would be great to have a sedan than could do a 10 sec quarter or 3 sec 0-60...awesome!
