drj0ndurst -> how do you afford your rs4? (8/15/2006 9:11:23 AM)

Im just curious what some of the folks in this forum do for a living.. might help me make a solid choice on a career :)

Trev -> RE: how do you afford your rs4? (8/15/2006 11:08:10 AM)

I own/operate multiple businesses...natural born entreprenuer. Work all the time and have just enough time at the end of the day to drive my RS and its so worth it! Automotive, Sales, Restaurant, Inn, Winery just to name a few. Good luck. :)

tsunami racer -> RE: how do you afford your rs4? (8/15/2006 12:42:13 PM)

there's no doubt most of us bust arse to be where we are (unless you're "independently wealthy" ie family money).

if i can quote an old boss of mine who said: "a job is doing something you don't necessarily like for money. a hobby is doing something you enjoy for free. a career is somewhere inbetween. make sure you find yourself a career..."

so point being, whatever you decide to do, you gotta enjoy and get some satisfaction from your career/source of income, because otherwise, you won't invest the time and energy needed to be sucessful enough to afford an RS4!!

did i just give words of wisdom???? god, i'm getting old.... [:o]

Trev -> RE: how do you afford your rs4? (8/15/2006 1:00:45 PM)

on that note, an old boss told me that "life is tuff...its tuffer if you're stupid". LOL Work hard and opportunity will follow.

myaudi98 -> RE: how do you afford your rs4? (8/15/2006 1:05:09 PM)

Or you could just do what i do and be a contract killer! Good pay in that field plus you get to travel!

And best of all, you get to kill bad people! [;)]

drj0ndurst -> RE: how do you afford your rs4? (8/16/2006 5:02:57 AM)

yea im in a career right now that is in between hobby and job, computer science. I just dotn think I'll ever be able to afford an 80 thousand dollar car and it sucks. entreprenuer huh, what were some of your favorite college classes?

drj0ndurst -> RE: how do you afford your rs4? (8/16/2006 5:04:48 AM)

and what the hell does a contract killer really do?

got a favorite way to kill people?

tsunami racer -> RE: how do you afford your rs4? (8/16/2006 1:17:33 PM)

well, i think the bigger test of character here is:

based on what i wrote above, is being a contract killer a "job" or a "career" [:D] god forbid just a "hobby" [:'(]

Trev -> RE: how do you afford your rs4? (8/16/2006 5:15:54 PM)

Business 101, communications, history and pshychology were my favorites! However, I never finished college b/c I figured I did not need it and had to many opportunities pass my way to refuse. I have the basics and fundamentals to get where I need to be. Plus, "its not what ya know...its who ya know"-especially in small business.

drj0ndurst -> RE: how do you afford your rs4? (8/16/2006 6:47:47 PM)

great, so people with social disorders like myself are destined never to own a rs4.

I'm not an RS owner (obviously not at 18), but I'd say that attitude is going to stop you from getting an $80,000 car more than how much you make at your job. You just have to learn to make certain sacrifices in order to get where you want to be.

What's up with these "what do you do for a living" threads?

And another thing, I would never choose a career because of how much money I'll make or what things I can buy. I hope that when you make a career choice, you look past that, and look for what you like to do, not what you would like to have. I make $24k a year right now but I love my work. I'm not going to college because I want to go to trade school and be a mechanic. Everyone tells me I'd make a great engineer, but the truth is, I'd hate to do that. I like fixing what is broken, not designing new things for people like me to fix. Sure, I'll never make enough money to lay down some cash (or probably even finance) an $80,000 car, but I love what I do. If your only motive in career options is buying an RS4, I pity you because you are going to have a horrible life.

Trev -> RE: how do you afford your rs4? (8/16/2006 10:37:58 PM)

-All I have to say is money isn't everything and neither are cars or material items. Ya sure, they make life a little nicer but if you get your joy or feelings of success from an object rather than who you've become on the inside....you need to look in the mirror. I am grateful that I am fortunate enough to have such an automobile/life but it could easily end tomorrow and I can't take a dime or a car with me. Therefore, I get my happiness from the accomplishments I have made and people I have helped...period.

-OK, enough pep talk on careers, money and how lucky RS owners are, someone start a new thread with an RS whooping some A**! Maybe I will w/in the next week-when it stops raining here dammit!

i just have one question.. did you have the mother theresa attitude before the $ started flowing

myaudi98 -> RE: how do you afford your rs4? (8/17/2006 10:18:36 AM)

Whats up with the DEEP THOUGHTS?

Trev -> RE: how do you afford your rs4? (8/17/2006 11:25:47 AM)

I grew up poor as ****, my dad literally shovel'd **** (manewer) for $50 a week when I was a child and yes my family and I have always been good hearted people and always will be whether financially secure or not. "To whom much has been given, much is expected". With saying that, you also have to look out for scam artist and people that use you b/c of what you have. All I have to say to that is "you reap what you sew". *You don't have to be an A**hole to get or be financially secure drj FYI.*

you could go work in management at general motors. you'll make a ton of money AND they're trying to fix all sort of things over there... [:D]

money isn't everything. trust me, i know alot of miserable bored unfulfilled people who have everything.

Imagine how Im feeling with you guys giving me all this advice while you all have your godly machines sleeping comfortably in your garages or driveways while I have... a pair of shoes. and yes, I do have a grasp on the fact there are people much much less fortunate than me. anyway I enjoyed all of your responses, especially the guys with real advice which doesnt inclue myaudi98 who im not sure owns a brain. lol this is deep thought huh.. this is adult conversation child, u should give me your rs4 before you total it.. please!

tsunami racer -> RE: how do you afford your rs4? (8/17/2006 12:25:13 PM)

if owning a RS4 or like car is that important to you, you will find a way. just never loose sight of your goal and never give up. sounds kinda "Kung Fu" but it's true.

i really appreciate the inspiration. I dont know if its THAT important to me honestly in the big scheme of things.. its just a dream of mine that would feel unreal if it came true so I wanted to do some investigating. Truth is I know I'll never own one.. but even though its an absolute waste of time, I enjoy dreaming about it.

techbod -> RE: how do you afford your rs4? (8/17/2006 12:55:33 PM)

"I dream but cant have so that leaves me with a dream and I spend more time in bed dreaming" and I can own and drive any car ever made in the dream state[;)] no cash payment isn't sleep wonderful[:)]

at the risk of now sounding like yoda, that is why you will fail...

i'm not saying this crap to be inspirational. i'm saying it because for me, it's true. if you want something enough, you will do whatever it takes to make it happen. and not just material things either. you'll strive to make other things happen in your life if you really want it. you can't buy love or beauty or intelligence... but you can buy MONEY! for some people it's easier than others based on your situation but people who had NO money CAN make money in this country. that's the greatness of the US. you don't have to have money to make money. not the case in other parts of the world.

it's not easy, it's not quick and sitting on a forum daydreaming about it won't make it happen. but if you really really want something, you can CHOOSE to make it happen. or CHOOSE not to make it happen.

how do i afford my RS4? i want it bad enough and i make it happen.
