well im in my 2nd day with my new (new to me anyways) a6 2.7t. it has 38k on it. it seems to run very smooth, a slight hesitation and then vrooom, from start.
i traded in my 96 lexus sc300 5spd. it was hard to give up but my wife and i needed a sedan.

i really love the car so far. i did purchase a extended warranty for it. anyone heard of quality gaurd? it seems to cover most everything including turbos.

any advice for ownership or expectations i should be aware of? what can i do myself and what NEEDS to be done at audi.

also any tips for the forums and how to navaigate? i have been searching around here for about 2 weeks and found a wealth of info.

what about performance mods, thinking of chipping, tbb, dv and H sways so far, also debating on clearing the corners (using the audiworld clearing for dummies).

thanks for all the help, also i live in dfw, tx. where should i search around for other enthusiasts?

Welcome!

Best way to learn about your Audi is to search these forums for what's already here. You can learn a ton by posting questions, but much of what you'll likely ask has already been asked and answered. As such, always do a search before posting a question. At most, you'll find your question has already been answered. At the least, you may pick up some background to help refine your question.

Another good resource to be aware of is Stoney's Links -- the ultimate A6 resource. Check my signature for the URL.

Good luck and happy reading.

P.S. Go for the H-sports first. GREAT upgrade. If you do not have the OEM sport suspension, do new shocks & springs or coilovers next. Then you can think about chipping. Add a new set of wheels before chipping as well. My $.02.

Welcome to Audi!!
I got a 2001 A6 2.7T in Nov 2005 and I love it!!! Haven't done too many things to it yet, but also thinking about suspension mods, specifically sway bars and lower shocks and springs. I have so far integrated my ipod into the car - was cheap and easy to do myself, let me know if you need more info - I'll email you some links and instructions. I didn't see if you have a manual or tip tranny. I hear that the only 2.7Ts worth chipping are stick ones because tip tranny may go from all that extra torque and hp you're gonna put through it. If you know this, let me know if it makes sense to chip a tiptronic - which is what I have - to about 315 horses. To be honest, the only time I felt underpowered in my car is when I raced this 911 C4S on a highway (it beat the crap out of me LOL). Other than that, not even 'stangs match up on the street.

as for the upgrades, try asking this guy via email: http://www.audichicago.org/ridedetail.php?id=243
(also pretty cool looking A6)

good luck

01A4T, I run stock. On the streets, nothing comes close other than 911s, M3s and Vettes. That's why I bought this car and not a 1.8T - no mods necessary, no blown gaskets inescapable

i dont see how a stock 2.7t could even come close to cars like an STI, newer Cobra, LS1's. i just dont see how your car stock can run anyware near a 13 or even 14's. someome 03' to 04 cobras are running twelves stock. LS1's stock are very low 13's. now if you have a good amount of mods maybe. but i guess the cars could have been parked?

I'm not disagreeing that on a track those cars will make me look like I'm parked, just saying that I haven't yet seen cars on the street that run with me. By the time the cobra guy gets his traction back, I'll be sipping latte at the starbucks 10 blocks away - fact! 01A4T, are you an Audi owner or an advacate for the big 3? LOL but come to thick of it, I did race an Evo the other day and it gave me a good deal of competition.

thank you for the info, that further supports my comment that there are alot more cars that will beat him than just a 911,m3, and so on. it just bothers me when sombody thinks their stock car is the best on the road.....

Sorry... But unfortunately for most of us 2.7T owners the EVO & STI will still rock us. I am chipped and still dont stand a chance to beat an EVO.. so stock... no chance.. just my .02

of course i am an audi owner, lol i just came from a 99ws6 and i know what they can do with light mods, even stock traction is no issue, and i am assuming the evo rocked you unless he diddnt know how to get out of 1st gear. but i am now all Audi, lol i have realized that Audi is all around great, the Trans-Am was quarter mile fun and thats about it

Hey all! I am sorta in the same boat as 'thetryal'. I just purchased an Audi A6 2.7t quattro this month with only 36k on it. This is my first Audi. I have always admired Audis and I am quite excited to have one. Just here to learn as much as I can about the car and to see what experianced owners think.

01A4T, you're really starting to piss me off. why don't you get a real car and then talk about running quarters with me and for now, join the civics, baby boy, cuz you got no chance against me!

as for STI's and EVO's - screw them, I'll still try to beat the crap out of every single one! Peace

hahaha, yeah key word TRY to beat them instead you will just look silly. and i do believe i have a decently real car. there is no point in arguing with you anymore because you seemingly no very little about what your car can and cant do. i simply dissagreed with you that you were beating most cars on the street with your stock 2.7T and the only competition for you were "M3's, Corvettes, and apparently 911's" that is just ludacris talk. apparently you have the nicest newest most badass Audi to the point where you feel you can talk **** about my A4. and i assure you that i am no ricer nor do i speak like one. get your head out of your ass and back to reality. i am done arguing with you. you have a nice car and i wish you luck with it. That Is All.

you are all too confident with your stock 2.7 i hope somebody puts you in your place some day. which could be the next day.lol. even stock 99+ mustang GT's will deff. put in your place. automatic or manual you would still loose....sorry. i dont see how you could think your 250hp sedan would win against most cars.... its beyond me. and i think my car might give you a run for your money. you probably have no idea what a chipped(dv) '01 1.8 can do.... are you really serious that your stock car can do what you say it can. that is just ignorant. theres no other way to say it. im sorry for your ignorance. its a shame. im surprised nobody has chimed in and agreed that this guy is ignorant......

Nobody is jumping in because the dialog has gotten abusive and juvenile. How about if we drop this piddling contest and let some other threads bubble up? Please?

Holy Schnikeys!! Is this what goes on here?! Perhaps 'twinblowers' could get '01A4T' a box of chocolates and they could discuss this over a saucer of milk at a table for two?

I had an incident with an EVO and I can tell you that he could not keep up. My car does have mods though! The EVO is a quick car, plus its light as a feather! My brother has an STI, I like the car. Its a little too rigid for me though. His car is quick and light also!

Overall I'll take my 2.7T. It solid, super fun to drive and its styling is first rate!

OOOO

Welcome to the forum!! I love my A6. I just got an 93 APR chip, and the car runs crazy fast. I am not one to brag about how the german's make such a sweet ride, but everyday I seem to get into a jam where I need to fly past some car or beat some honda off the line and I am gone. The A6 is heavy, but with the chip, the car is fast. I am having the GIAC tranny chip along with sway bars done next week. Along with the mods I have already made, this should be even more fun than it already is. The 2.7T engine is fun to have, and in the A6, it is even more unsuspecting.
