Auto box won't start in P or N
 

Hi, I have a Mercedes V280 mpv, but this is a VAG sight! yes, well this engine and auto box is VAG, it's a VR6 2.8 with a VAG 4 speed auto fuzzy logic box.
This is the problem.
Mercedes do not have a clue! it is a hybrid to them.

The van will not start in P or N and thinks it is in R as the parking sensors are on and reverse lights on?

Any help as to where to find the switch or ?

inhibitor switch which is designed to prevent it pulling away while in any gear when you start the engine its a safety feature with all automatics, age of car might help

Would this be box end or stick end? it is very low down and you cannot see anything?

hmm I have very little data on it like where the fuses are, car made from 1997-03 the problem could be a fuse or the switch on the shift lever

I doubt its box end unless a wire has come off

Just spoke to VAG in coventry UK and they found the switch.
It's box end, it folows the cable arm.

Well picked it up from MB and got it home. had a look underneth and the socket was louse
removed it and cleand it and yes happy days!
MB could not find it and they put a new box in 12months ago!
