RS4 steering wheel shake

tsunami racer -> RS4 steering wheel shake (8/25/2006 4:29:08 PM)

i was reading some owner reviews of the RS4 on edmunds.com and saw one guy note how his steering wheel would shudder at 61-65mph. i never noticed this because on LA freeways, you're either going 75+ or less than 30mph.

but today, i made it a point to go between 60-65 mph on my way to work and Guess What??? there IS a noticable shake at that speed, at least on my car. smooth asphalt freeway surface so not because of the road surface . nothing too bad and that's probably why i never noticed it before as i swept past 60-65mph on my way up to cruising speed at 70+. but when you sustain about 62-64 mph, there is a slight shuddering of the wheel, almost like you lost a wheel weight but not that severe. my tire pressures are at 39PSI cold and i just checked them 2 days ago so i know that's correct.

anyone else experience this? i know it's hard to go only 63 mph but can anyone else try it out and see?

Sounds to me like a wheel balance issue.

I haven't seen that in mine yet, I'd take it in to be looked at. It's one of those difficult things though that I can easily see the dealer saying they couldn't reproduce, so I might insist on going with them.
