Default 2000 Audi A6 headlamp removal question

I just bought a 2000 Audi A6 2.7 and am new to Audis. I need to know how to remove the headlight lamp on the drivers side. I thought my turn bulb was out but when i squeezed my hand in there to remove the bulb and replaced it, i realized it is a connection problem. I have to sand down the inside metal where it goes in to make sure it is making the proper connection. The blinker works when I put it in, but when i lock it in to position the connection is lost. I know the screws on top, but what else is holding it in? Couldn't find it, and dont want to force anything. Your help is most apprieciated as drivers in front of me cannot predict my left turns.

Most people will tell you it is either impossible to remove the front headlights without taking off the front bumper cover. The other way most will tell you is to do it from the underside of the car. I just got done doing the clear side marker mod and found a way. It is time consuming and takes a few special tools. I can walk you through it. It would be alot eaiser over the phone so if you are interested then send me a private email and I can get you my number. Oh, mine is a 2002 and I think they are the same. You might want to check.

Thanks 2Slow and madbaird for the replies. I have removed the black cover off the power steering fluid tank and reached in to sand the area to make the connection and found the issue. The piece holding the left blinker bulb doesn't line up when fully when tightened in position. Small issue, left it a tad loose and now it works ok. Got bigger problems for the meanwhile. I was told that my torque converter is going bad, and need a new timing belt. MMMMMmm.... pricey!!

2 Slow, I will check-up on 00 to 02 differences and probably email ya this weekend because I do want to know how to do that.

Thanks
