well, i suppose i've done enough bitching on this forum so i'd better post something positive to contribute ;)

so i sat there thinking about what i can do in the way of mods to the RS4. it's pretty much like thinking about what kind of steak sauce to put on a smith & wollensky rib eye, cuz it just doesn't need any. after searching pictures on the web, i finally decided i need a "euro" touch to the american RS4, so....

guys in europe are probably scratching their heads wondering what all the fuss is about but over here in the "colonies", the EU license plate panel is a pretty rare sight. in addition, i blacked out the side marker reflectors in the front and rear bumpers which "cleans up" the overall appearance of the car, i think.

ok, so it doesn't make me go any faster, but it's a start :D

There is a very large percentage of the population that would say if you're driving a car that hot, you WANT to be seen.

Looks nice. I was wondering how/where the front plates attached, because I never saw any holes there.

Looks good...like what you did to the marker lights. Just two more orange to clear conversions and your done!

BTW - that river will make any steak taste good!

the panel has 4 screws that plug in from the bottom. the top of the panel has slots that clip into the grill housing. really easy. the license plate is sandwiched in so no fasteners needed to hold it in place.

i bought it from a shop in the UK called www.vagparts.com. they have some other cool stuff like euro tail lights with amber turn signals.

yes, tint is probably next. at least to keep that socal sun off the leather!!

How did you "black out" the corner markers? Did you do the rear ones too?

the corner reflectors were removed and painted by my dealer.they owed me a favor. apparently the fronts were a painas they're bolted in. therears come out easily and are merely clipped in.

the euro plates aren't exactly legal, but neither is driving above the posted speed limits ;) i personally have never been hassled. but then again, the front says the same thing my state government issued plates on the back say.

The car looks great!!! See, thats a question I had. If I were to put the same thing in the front (euro plate style), as my government issued plates, would I be pulled over, or not?

Most Cop don't hassel you in CA, but they could give you a fix it ticket if s/he is being a jerk.

BTW: Nice Mod I just order the front filler plate without the two chorme strip, black on black, hope to show some pic when done. Hope the black on black turns out as nice as yours.

I recently added the filler plate without the silver strips. I think they both look good, but I was shooting for the black on black as well. I wanted that gaping mouth to be uninterrupted, it's just preference.

Great mod choices tsunami. The car looks to be coming along very well, personally I am a fan of the euro plate, I like how you can't see the fasteners (as you said, it's sandwiched)

i like those euro plates man. how much did you buy them for and is the install just you would for US plates?

i bought these UK plates from an on-line company called fancyplates.com. they have an online configurator and they ship it directly to you.you can customize it with different fonts and logos if you want to. but they only have british plates, which are plastic. and always remember: the yellow plates go on the back. the white ones are on the front!! nothing looks sillier than seeing some US guy with a yellow british plate on the front ;)

if i was really hardcore, i would get a euro trunk lid so i can put the UK plate on the back too (under the CA plate of course) but it seems like a lot of $$$ not to go any faster. that's what i did with my old sled:

ah ok, i noticed that you put your california plate on top of the euro plate for your sti, have you had any police troubles with putting on the euro plates on your rs4?

i personally have never been hassled (10+ years driving around with euro plates) but i've heard aboutpeople who have. if you drive like a granny like i do, i suppose you won't catch the eye of the po-po anyways.

the other thing is, make sure the front euro and rear USA plates say the SAME thing. at least you can argue to a sympathetic officer that "in spirit" you weren't trying to deceive anyone.

yeah i think i'll just do the front ones for now.
Oh and i forgot to ask you where you got the frame for the euro plates from? I noticed when I got my euro plates in, that they coudln't fit in the front of the car... so now i'm trying to find a place that sells them. Thanks

i'll sell you one of mine.it'sused and has some road rash from the high speed jaunts and all those pesky bugs that keepjumping in front of my car, but it's usable and complete. you can use it as is or if you're really anal, you can sand them and shoot some flat black on it to look new. PM me if you're interested.
