Default Wheel Help...

So, I just recently bought a used 06 A3, 2.0 MT with the sport package and 18" ASA wheels. Could not be happier with the car. After driving trucks and suv's for 10 years I can't imagine going back!! These cars are amazingly fun to drive.

As I live in Colorado and will be making numerous ski trips this winter, my first inclination is to find a good set of snow tires with on 16" wheels (well, after I ordered the DICE anyway). I've located a set of Audi OEM 16's from a 98 - 01 A6, but the dealer can't tell me if they will fit without any interference with my brake calipers or suspension. Has anyone possibly used this same wheel on an A3? Or, have any idea if they will work out?

The Audi part number on the wheels is 4BO 601 025F 7Jx16H2. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Hmmm...I thought the spec on the car was 17" wheels. Why would you go to a 16" inch rim in CO? Find a nice set of winter 17's and be happier. Boy I miss Colorado.

Cheers!

The spec on the car is 17" wheels, but I was thinking that a 16" wheel would require a larger (taller) tire and therefore provide greater traction in the snow? Not sure if this is accurate, I read it online somewhere. I honestly know almost nothing of winter tires / wheels.

I could go with a 17, but they are also more expensive. Do you think it would differ much in handling and snow performance as opposed to a 16?

I'm missing Colorado too...If I don't get out of this office soon I may as well not live here!!
