i need help boys!! ive got an a3 quattro 2001
my engine management light came on. disconnected the battery and it was ok for a few days then it came back on i got someone to look at it and he found a air pipe from the rocker cover to air intake had split. i had that replaced disconnected the battery the light went out.everything was now the light has come back on!!!! there is no loss in power no change any way or form
any ideas boys is there a way of resetting the computer rather than getting the arse ripped out of me at the main dealers

ive had the car put on a vag-com and it came up with the codes 17544:unknown plus 17833: unknown,does anyone know what these mean????

17833 = P1425 short to ground EVAP system, probably canister purge valve area.

17544 = P1136 lean fuel trim caused by the above code

cheers for that.ive recently put a pipercross induction kit on, that wouldnt have anything to do with it would it?? also recently about the same time as the mil light coming on the warning light for the brake light kept coming on and off but there is no blown bulb.
what is a canister purge valve and were is it located..thanks again
