Default 2001 A6 4.2 and 2.7T wheels?

Hello

I have a 2001 A6 4.2, and I have the factory 17" wheels on them. I'm about to buy a set of winter tire/wheel combo from a guy who had it on his 2000 A6 2.7T, 16" wheels with 215/55R-16 (looks like it's from tirerack winter wheel/tire combo).

Does anyone know if the wheels for the 4.2 and 2.7T are interchangeable (i.e. offset, etc.)?

Thanks in advance!

Well, if they are stock wheels, they are probably ET45 offset, which might be okay to clear the brake calipers, but the wheels will look more tucked in (not to mention the narrower tires). If aftermarket (as you suggest in your post from Tire Rack), find out what offset they are. Your stock wheels are likely to be ET35 offset, which are 10mm further outward than an ET45 offset.

I think the combination of skinny tires and tucked-in wheels would make the 4.2 fender flares look odd...check on the wheel offset and dimensions.

I agree, your 4.2 has a wider stance than the 2.7. It makes me laugh to think of what it would look like.

Default RE: 2001 A6 4.2 and 2.7T wheels?

HI guys

thanks for your input. In looking at Tirerack site, the particular wheel I'm looking at (AT Italia S5) has the same specs for both 2000 2.7T and 2001 4.2; specifically, the offset is +35, bolt pattern 5-112. So I'm thinking that it'll look OK (unless you look at the car from behind...then it might look funny)? I'm not a wheel expert, so if you disagree, let me know!

215 is quite a bit narrower than 255 that I have on there now, but for snow driving, I think it would be better?

Open to suggestions.

Thanks!
