Default Handheld GPS or In Car

Hey everyone, i have been looking into getting either a hand held GPS unit that i could also use in my car, OR just getting a full on ready to go unit from Tom, Tom that is just plug and play but you can only use it in the car. The handheld GPS i would prob go with GARMIN just b/c we sell them at work and i can get a discount on one of them.

Garmin eTrex Vista Cx Which retails for $375

And

Tom Tom One which retails for $500

The thing is, im in my car a lot so the plug and play would be great for being in the car all the time, But i am also traveling and canoing and climbing and it would be great to map out trails and directions and great fishing places to come back too when im out and about using the handheld... But i can also bring the handheld into the car and get just local Hwy.. and interstates and some small towns.

So if you could help me out and see which one you would like or which one i might like

Garmin NUVI. it's awesome, several friends bought them as well. I have the 550 but I think there are now cheaper models too.

+1^^^
Garmin Nuvi is the way to go........I have the 360 model with bluetooth, great with a 6 speed for talking on the phone. Tom Tom blows in my opinion.
Got my Nuvi for about $400.

I have heard many good things about Garmin.

IMO, handheld GPS are better because you can carry it around with you, move it to another car, usually costs cheaper than having in car GPS, and no installation fee (if you do the simple installation).
