Default Reset Service Light Indicator

Hi all

Im new to forums. Been reading the posts here and am pleased to be a part of it.

I have an A3 1999 1.8T Sport.

I have just done an 80,000mile service with the help of a friend.

I do not know how to reset the service interval indicator.

Does anyone know the procedure via the dashboard?? Or do i have to buy a reset tool??

Any help will be appreciated . . . . .

Thank you.

Default RE: Reset Service Light Indicator

Wish I could help ya. There are a few posts if you do a search but none of them helped to get my service light off. I took mine to the stealership and they wouldn't turn it off unless I paid $108!! I had a local shop do my service and they never turned it off.

Not too sure if this will work but you can try different combinations using the trip reset and clock adjustment buttons on the instrument cluster.

1. jump in the car and close the door, then put the key in the ignition.
2. push the trip reset button and at the same time switch on the ignition.... wait a couple of seconds for the display to change.
3. pull the clock adjustment button to reset the service interval.

Hope this helps, works on my 2000 A3 which I serviced myself.

Regards. TonyH.

That sounds about right. The procedure is in the User Manual and I belive there are two sequences, one to reset the oil change indicator and one for the service indicator. They are similar to the above.

this subject has been covered to death a search would be a good idea but ill post to help you

button A is the odometer under the speedo and B is the dimmer under the rev counter.
OEL-OIL service light
press and hold button A,
switch ignition on,
release button A,
the letters OEL or OIL will appear in the odometer display of the speedometer.
pull out button B until the letters are erased and replaced by *--*
that's the oil service light reset..
now the inspection service light.
press and hold button A.
switch ignition on.
release button A.
the letters INSP will appear in the odometer display of the.
if required clear the OEL-OIL indicator from the display as previously described
