Just purchased an 2001 Audi A6 Avant - wagon with 81K miles.

Is there a service manual that the forum members would recommend?
I intend to do the basics - oil change, brake pads, serpentine belt?

Thanks
Jim

the audi service manual is the best, most detailed etc. but the most $$$$. dont bother with the cd's from ebay for $10, they are crap.

the audi manual is also avail on cd rom.

at 81k miles it is time for the timing belt/water pump and pulleys to be done. dont wait too much longer if it hasnt been done yet.

Any recommendations of where I can get the timing belt/water pump/pulley replaced in Massachusetts?
Specifically a good garage mechanic (not dealer)?

Welcome to the world of Audi!

You can get the Bentley CDROM from these guys http://www.ross-tech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=BAC55&Category_Code=Audi for about $99. If you do some searching on google you can find the CD manual for about $75. Good luck.
