Default advice on chip...please!

Hello people

I was wondering if some1 could advice me on getting a chip for my 2004 a4 1.8t. I really wanna get it but just not sure which is the best 1 recommended and where to get it done? Also if i do get the chip do i need to get anything else to make it function properly? Also are there any negatives to adding chip...such as harming engine in anyway or does it mess with my timing or transmission? Sorry alot of ?'s but really want it just need some guidance. Approximately how much power am I adding? Any help would be great!!

the reason no one is answering you, incase you were wondering, is because this topic has been discussed so many times, and there is so much information readily available if only you clicked on the search button.
Happy searching!

in all reality GIAC, APR, and REVO will get you pretty similar results as far as hp and tq go. the difference comes with where that hp and tq is applied. GIAC in my opinion is the best for b5's. it is the torquiest and you can really feel the power in the lower rpm range. apr and revo are more geared toward higher rpm power. it will be smoother down low and finish strong. i've driven with both chip and giac seemed to be the most fun and able to deliver power the most where you really want it.
