I just got my VAG-com and hooked it upto my 2000 Audi A6 and got the following problem codes. Can someone help figure out what it means and how best to get it fixed. Thanks

1) Engine: 18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30 voltage too low - intermittent

2) Auto Trans: 00526 - Brake light switch-F
27-00 - Implausible signal

3) ABS Brakes - 01203 - Electrical Connection between ABS and Instrument Cluster
03-10 - no signal - intermittent

Are these codes that have re-appeared after initially clearing the codes? The ECU will store codes for quite a while. You want to see which codes are active. The first code could be from disconnecting the battery at some point. The last code could be your ABS module, particularly if your ABS and BRAKE lights are on.

I've tried clearing the code but, it tells me I need to register VAG-com first. For the ABS, I've read so much about ABS problems on this forum, I will send my ABS module in to get it rebuilt.

I wouldn't change the module unles syou have other symptoms.

You should go ahead and register the Vag-Com software - It's a great tool and can save you money.

1st code if from having battery disconnected
2nd IIRC is from the brake switch that is attached to the brake pedal itself.
3rd could be caused by someone disconnecting the instrument cluster

Register vag-com it'll be a good investment for you

my ABS light come on and Break light blinks with three loud beeps. It's the same as what everyone has been telling me. I spent two hours getting the ABS module apart today. I will send it in to get it re-built. Will let you all know how it goes. Thanks

How hard is it to change the module if you're not mechanically inclined? In other words, I have a tough time changing the burned out light bulb. I just can't handle another 1K garage charge.

It's pretty easy if you have some time and patience. You need star shaped screw driver size M20. Middle and bottom screws are very hard to get to.

Let me know if you need any additional info on how best to take it out. Make sure you don't lose the screws down into the engine. One of my screws fell down into the engine.

It really isn't very difficult. As Mikeko says, a little patience will get you there. I followed this approach, where you remove the wheel and the wheel well liner, then the washer tank to get access.

Well worth the effort to save $700.
