Anyone hear about the 2008 RS 6, I was doing some research and found something that said it would be a turbocharged V10 pushing around 550hp, M5 killer I'd say. The pictures I saw were pretty sick, anyone have any other info on it.

i heard it was gettin the 5.5L V10 from the Q7. never heard about it being turbocharged. the engine is producing 550hp as is. if they put a turbocharger on that beast you can kiss the m5 goddbye

I saw on a website that it was gonna be close to 100k, but I dont know how accurate that it. Either way the new RS 6 is gonna be quite a sight.

Reading that link - I never understand all of the "they can't put in the same engine as the Lambo" kind of thinking. Someone buying an Audi sedan and someone buying a Lambo are not the same buyer. Someone that has wanted a Lambo their entire life isn't going to hear that the RS6 has the same engine and say "Now I don't want a Lambo" or "This car doesn't seem fast anymore because I know that somehere out there, there is a heavier 4dr sedan with this engine". Car mag/blog writers just need to get over it.

I completely agree with you, the RS 6 is supposed to be fast and it's not gonna take away lambo buyers. I say make the RS 6 as fast as possible.

im sure a few years after the new m3 comes out there will be a bran new spankin m5 that will (i hate to say it, but its probally gonna be true) will be faster than the rs6, given i's still rather have the rs6 because it looks so damn tight and it o so comfortable

I thought from all the press/media bout the S6 that the V10 was a fair squeeze into the engine bay? how did Audi fit a V10 bituro in - with all that plumbing and not to mention 2 coolers[sm=dontgetit.gif]

The only difference was that one had different engine parts. Headers, y pipes and a different turbo. Nothing special from the s4. God the b4 S4, Loveeeee.....

They moved away because of their chief engineer. To my knowledge he doesnt work with the company any longer

The new RS6 will come with an V8 huge twin turbo, and no the v10 that everyone is saying. it will come with over 600hp

I swear I just saw a magazine article on it and it was only suppose to be around 440 horse, I dont remember if it was the RS6 might be a diff audi, I should have stolen the magazine from the doctor.

We recently reported that leaked vehicle chassis codes for the new Audi RS6 specced the output from its twin-turbo V10 engine at 571hp (426kW). Recent information from a source at Audi, however, has put this figure in doubt. The reliable source claims that the 571hp will only be the specified figure Audi will market the car with. True output will be upwards of 600hp, with 610hp (455kW) pegged as the most likely figure. It looks like Audi is taking no chances with the ultimate “wolf in sheep’s clothing� model and even BMW’s excellent V10 motor will struggle to compete with this kind of power output. To give you an idea of just how high this figure is, the RS6 will churn out more horses than the Corvette Z06, BMW M6, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, Ferrari F430 Scuderia, Aston Martin DBS, Porsche 911 GT2, and even Mercedes’ epic bi-turbo V12 CL65 AMG.
While we’re always happy to see manufacturers pushing the limit, surely there comes a time when outright power figures get out of control. The previous RS6 wasn’t a slow car by any stretch of the imagination, but the new model will likely become the most practical supercar ever made. At least owners will have a full-time AWD system to help keep them out of trouble.

I guess if you really want an RS6 Avant, you could go to Germany buy it, then ship it back to the states.
