Talking in KM means nothing to american's...someone translate that 700km for the silly americans pls.(me)

Hybrid's are boring and not that efficient vs. diesel, and yes you can thank my state for ruining that for all in the US. :)

But electrics should be a blast, most are probably going to be pretty quick.

Check out tesla motors..pure electric sports car 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds...There doesn't have to be huge sacrifices like the current hybrids, we just need more wind/solar energy sources then go pure electric motors.

Seriously?! Try to not make us "Americans" look so bad by not capitalizing what you are calling yourself and using an apostrophe....

Besides, it's a simple conversion to remember. Roughly .62 miles per 1km so 700km ~ approx 434 miles

I think the hybrid cars are going to mark the end of tuner cars but I sure hope not.

Hybrid cars are quite innovative & earth-friendly but there are still some stuffs & qualities that tuner cars outstand them

I sure hope that Audi brings the A3 TDI here and soon. I would buy one in a heartbeat. The Jetta TDI will be on sale in the fall of this year so I see no reason that we will not see the Audi's with them available in all models, just like in Europe.

Over two months later in this post and anybody knows if the Q7 3.0L TDI is available in the US by now??

I am thinking of getting a Q7. I run all my other vehicles on biodiesel and therefore am looking for a diesel model.

I don''t think its available anywhere in the states yet.  Motor Trend has a side article about the TTS TDI and it sounds promising in terms of performance and a claimed 50 MPG, but they said no word on availability in the US.
Is it the variance in state emissions thats holding things up?

The TDI page on the Audi site says the Q7 TDI will be available next year.

I guess the US is against diesel passenger cars in general due to the higher output in diesel fuel. I read in another forum once that the rising diesel consumption in Europe, (almost 50% of all vehicles in Europe are diesels), a lot more diesel fuel has to be refined in abarrel, which usually used to be 70% for gasoline, 10% per diesel fuel and rest is other oil commodities per barrel.

The new administration might change all that, especially in the alternative fuel sector, like biodiesel. Which is the reason by the way why I want a TDI. My pickup and Mototrhome already run on B100 for the last 2 years. And by the end of July I''m actually processing my
own Biodiesel

We''ll see,

Thomas

Nobody wants to talk about the toxic waste stream created by the batteries used in hybred cars. When that little turd hits the fan hybreds won''''t look so green after all.
As for a turbo diesel hybred, the turbo of a diesel isn''''t the issue it would be for a turbo charged gasoline engine. There are already turbo diesel hybred yard switcher locomotives operating on batteries with multiple small turbo diesel engines that are started and stopped as necessary to charge the batteries. Yup, each locomotive has two or three small, low emission and fuel efficient medium speed diesels in place of the big honking V-16 typical of non-hybred designs. Each engine spins an alternator that charges a bank of batteries through a transformer rectifier. The batteries power the electric drive motors on each axle. There are bunch of these running around the ports of LA and Long Beach. As usual, the locomotive industry is way ahead of the auto industry in terms of advanced electronics ( they had full authority digital engine control linked to traction control back in the 1980''''s, as well as electronic diesel injection well before the auto industry thought of it ).
