Default smallest tire size on a 9.5"w rim? (offset ? also)

ok so im looking to get privat netz wheels for my 98' a6. they only make an 8" wide, and a 9.5" wide. i think 8" is too thin for my personal taste. so what would be the smallest tire width i cold run on a 9.5" wheel, and what would be the optimum offset for this wheel/tire combo? thanks alot

Can't imagine why you'd want to put a 9.5" wheel on a 98 A6. The maximum sized tire you can go with and be guaranteed not to run into any rubbing issues is 235. Others will claim they've gone wider, but for every one who does, I'll find you a person that will tell you they ran into problems with that width -- 235 is the safe size and what is recommended by knowledgable tire places. A 235 tire works out very nicely on an 8" rim with a 35 offset (that's the combo I'm running). Another inch and a half of rim is a serious recipie for rashed rims.

Good luck.
