Default Octane Question

I was wondering whats the highest amount of octane you could run in a slightly modded "no chip" 2.8 V6.could you go up to 100 octane?Just dont want to blow my shit up.thanx for your time.

it would be a waste of money, the stock chip would prevent any significant gains.

yep, 100 octane is a waste of money on non-moded car. there is slight gains, but it has bad gain to cost ratio.

^^correct, if you have a stock chip you will see nothing, probably a decrease in performance since it's a delayed detonation from the octane. Now if you where chiped at 91 octane, you could put 100 octane in there and you will see a gains there, i've done it my self. Now go get that race gas program and fill up with some c16 wooohoo

According to this article high octane fuel only makes a small difference at WOT so is a bit of a waste of money unless you have upped the compression of the engine - octane is not a measure of power but Knock resistance.
