Default brake line 'sploded...

so yesterday i was on the parkway heading home from college. I was approaching the exit ramp and started slowly braking, so i pushed the brake pedal... then a little more... then a little more... then im touching the floor and the car is stopping slowly but not to a stop, im like F**K. So i start pumping the pedal for pressure, and stop it at the light. luckily i was only a mile a way and had enough pumps left to make it home. turns out my front left brake line exploded it looked pretty brittle and on top of that the line/sensor bracket on the caliper fell off and was hanging by the line. So after two trips to the dealer and two to my local parts store (the dealer didnt even have the parts i needed and wanted to special order them to come in in a few days). I replaced the line(rubber) and the copper line that goes into the caliper because of a hole in the copper line... so i got a steel replacement. I then bled all the brakes. and in 2 days im getting new pads and rotors. I was so pissed I can't even explain. lol sorry for the rant, moral of the story is, if your car has around 100k on it look at your brake lines for cracked rubber.

That would suck..I had a similar experince but not in an AUDI. I had a 1970 Dodge Challenger and the master cylinder blew a seal (drum breaks) I S*** my pants at the 4 way stop I blew through (horn honking)..Upgrade to stainless steel lines and never worry about it again.

yeah i hear you on the steel lines. I wouldve done that upgrade but since my car is a 2.8 and my junger for power keeps growing lol, im going to just put new replacement lines. My next car will likely be an s8(older model) older m5 or a 2005 a8 (once i can afford it).
