Default a3 central locking??

Hi All,

I just purchased an audi a3 99 1.8 non turbo. I was told the central locking does not work and the windows and sunroof neither. No prob got it cheap. it has 40k on it and one owner. In the boot the box for the central locking is missing. How much are they and do they control the windows also??

Cheers
Steve

Default RE: a3 central locking??

I know versions of the A3, a few years on have window closure through the remote central locking. i.e. holding the lock button on the keyfob will close the windows/sunroof, and holding open on the fob will open them etc. However, I would have thought that even without the central locking pump, the windows should still operate.

Check the fuses on the fuse board. The central locking pump should be easily removed, there is just a compound connector there, so you could try to get one from a scrap yard etc. But its probably better to have it checked first. Take it to audi to establish the problem, then you can go elsewhere to get the parts if its too expensive there.
