When i turn on the headlights on my Audi 80 the instrument cluster does not illuminate.The lights on the heater controls do not illuminate either.

I checked the fuse and it is ok.The number plate light is on the same fuse and this works ok.

One thing to note is that the digital clock in the instrument cluster is always lit as normal but when I turn on the headlights this goes dim.
