Hey my mom is in love with my new a4, and she is in need of an upgrade from her 03 Volvo S60 2.4T. She is torn between an 01 Bimer (528i) and a 01 Audi A6 2.7T. What do you think?
BTW i expect some bias since i am in an audi forum, but try to back up your thoughts with valid points.

Don't go BMW outdated styling ugly interior and with the A6 you are getting the extra luxury of quattro if you live where you get snow you will appreciate it a lot
i am a former 5.28I owner and a current a6 2.7 owner, both had tiptronic trans., the bmw had the sports package. the 2.7 is a superior car, both in ride, performance, and versitility. Quattro has to be experienced to be understood, also, if it's for your mom, the safty issue should be considered.
Well, I don't know anything about the 2.7T, but I own a 97 528I and a 99 A6 Quatro. The A6 seems to be very slow when compared to the BMW. Just bought it less than a week ago. It's deffinatly a very smooth ride, however when accelarating, it's not very quick. Some guy with an old acura legend blew my A6 today. Just wondering, are all 2.8L A6 slow, or is there something wrong with mine? I only got 59k on it.
Despire having similar power figures, the A6 2.8 is a bit slower than the 528i.
Most of it is due to the transmission shifting speed as well as the engine response curve. My father drove a 528i - it had much more grunt and acceleration in the bottom end but not as much at the top. Smooth engine though, being an inline 6. The transmission was also a bit more responsive, and of course much less drivetrain loss with an RWD vs Quattro. The A6 is also a bit heavier.
2.7T however is a different story. Definitely a much better car than the 528i. =) Totally subjective opinion and heavily biased being an Audi owner. Go to bimmerfest.com and post the same question. You might get different results. In stock form a 2.7T six speed manual will hit 60mph in about 6.0sec. Thats fast for a 3800lb sedan!
