Default 2006 A6 Navigation system transplant

Re: 2006 A6 - Anyone with knowledge about adding the navigation feature after the car was built and delivered? I hoped I could find a "doner" car from which the nav CD unit could be transplanted into my 2006 A6. From all indications, the wiring exists, in the trunk, where placement of the CD unit is mounted and is simply not used unless the car is equipped with the nav option. I do have the MMI screen and the steering wheel that would accomodate the nav system. Outwardly it looks like a fairly simple matter to add the nave CD unit, connect the wiring in the trunk and it is good to go.

Am I a bit too simplistic in my assessment? Thanks for any advice offered.
